Summer 2008 Required Reading

	The King Must Die by Mary Renault - Please read "Troizen," "Eleusis," and "Athens"
	Mythology by Edith Hamilton - Please read pages 24 through 84.

In preparation for your study of the Classical Greek Hero, your reading will include learning about important Greek mysthology and the first three sections of Mary Renault's The King Must Die.

Your Task:

Take thorough notes while reading each of the assigned texts. Your notes may be in outline form or written in a style that makes sense to you. Be sure to bring these notes to school on the first day of class as they will be checked. Furthermore, you will use these notes in order to write in response to a specific essay topic during the first few days of school.

Assessment:

You will take a multiple choice test in response to both texts. In addition, you will write one essay in response to your assigned reading of The King Must Die.
