YOUNG ADULT HOMEWORK CENTER
Mondays - Thursdays, 4:00 - 6:00PM (school days only)

The Baldwin Public Library Young Adult Homework Help Center is designed for students in grades 7 - 12. It is staffed by a certified teacher, Mondays - Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00PM on school days to help students with specific homework assignments and research projects. It is not a tutoring center.

The YA Homework Center, during the 2010-11 school year, will be open to all Baldwin students in grades 7-12. The YA Homework Center will close for the 2010/2011 school year on Thursday May 26, 2011.

We will re-open for the 2011/2012 school year on Monday, September 19.

Parent/guardians must fill out a Registration Agreement for each new school year. Please remember, if you filled out a form for this past year, you will need to fill out a new registration form for the beginning of the school year (September 2011-May 2012).

Registration forms will be available in the Teen Zone beginning in August. You may also download the registration forms on-line but a parent/guardian will need to deliver the one-time YA Homework Center Registration form for the year in person.

HOMEWORK HELP
Baldwin Public Library has three additions to our online database collection guaranteed to make students' lives easier! All of these resources are available from home via our webpage (www.baldwinpl.org). Have your library card handy and click on Magazines/Databases in the left-hand column.

The Historical New York Times provides full page images of the New York Times from its first issue in 1851 to 2007. Every issue includes the complete paper-cover-to-cover-with full-page and article images in downloadable PDF files.

Need literary criticism? Try Literature Resource Center, a one-stop source for biographies, critical analyses, and bibliographies of more than 120,000 authors. No more worrying that someone else has the book you need or having to lug huge books to the photocopier. Now you can search and print what you need at the Library or from home.

Biography in Context combines over 427,000 biographies on more than 335,000 people from over 960 reference sources, as well more than 500,000 articles from hundreds of periodicals. It also includes images and links to selected websites. Search for people---both current and historic from all eras and fields of endeavor---based on name, occupation, nationality, ethnicity, birth/death dates and places, or gender, as well as keyword and full text.

Remember, your library is as close as your home computer. All you need is a Baldwin Public Library card. Want a demonstration of these or any other of our more than 50 online databases? Come to the Adult Reference Desk and the librarians will be happy to show you. Or call us at (516) 223-6228 for help with any questions you might have.
