TAG - You’re It!
Wednesday, September 17, 7:00-8:00PM


Join the “Teen Advisory Group” (TAG). Be a part of the changes @ your library! Brainstorm ideas and make new friends. TAG membership is open to all teens in grades 6-12. Your hours of participation will be recorded so you can use the time to help fulfill your school’s community service requirements. We need to plan for refreshments so please register in the Teen Zone or by calling Jill Holleufer at 223-6228 x43.


Teen Read Week: October 12 – 18

Books with Bite @ your library! How many books will you be able to read? Our reading riot runs Sunday, October 12 through Saturday, October 18. Whoever reads the most books wins a prize.

Then, join us for a horror movie on the last day of Teen Read Week.


Teen Movie: Frankenstein (Rated PG)

Sounds of Ancient Civilizations
Sunday, October 19, 2:00-3:30PM


We will explore the music, customs and folklore of world cultures which include Native American, Hawaiian, Australian,
South American, African, Egyptian, Japanese, Chinese, Asian Indian, Middle Eastern and Scottish. This project is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program, administered by the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport. Fun for the entire family! Registration begins on Wednesday, October 1.


Teen Space
Wednesday, October 22, 7:00-8:30PM


What do teens wish to chat about? Let’s start our own teen discussion group and talk about issues we care about (music, relationships, politics, cliques, hairstyles, fashion, sports, video games, movies, etc.). Registration begins on Wednesday, October 1.



Chess Workshop for Beginners, Grades 5-8
Sunday, November 2, 2:00- 3:00PM


Would you like to learn how to play a game of chess? Join an instructor from the Long Island Chess Nuts for an hour of instruction and play. A non-refundable materials fee of $1.00 is due at registration. Registration begins on Wednesday, October 15.


Beginners to Intermediate Chess Workshop (Grades 5-8)
Sunday, November 16, 2:00-3:00PM


Whether you have previous experience or just want to learn the basics of chess, join an instructor from the Long Island Chess Nuts for an hour of instruction and play. A non-refundable materials fee of $1.00 is due at registration.
Registration begins on Wednesday, October 15.



The College Process
Wednesday, November 19, 7:00-8:30PM


This workshop will cover everything you should know about the college application and admission process and needn’t be
afraid to ask! Topics will include SUNY vs. CUNY, private vs. state schools, safety on campus, financial aid information and many other college-related topics. Registration begins
on Wednesday, October 29.


TEEN MOVIE NIGHTS
Teens can enjoy a movie with other teens in the Community Room of the Baldwin Public Library. Movies shown on Teen Movie Nights are specially selected for teen audiences. RSVP by calling 223-6228 x43 or by email at teens@baldwinpl.org.
